This was a design/build project for the permitting, design and construction of a replacement boat ramp, new floating docks and site improvements for the US Navy in Key West, FL. The project included the replacement of an existing concrete boat ramp with a larger ramp at the Boca Chica Marina.
The scope for Martinez also included all permitting for the project through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the US Army Corps of Engineers and the local Sanctuary. Work included bathometric surveys, marine resource surveys and mangrove surveys to mitigate any impacts from the project.
The new ramp extended an additional 10’ into the channel to accommodate large boats and Navy operational requirements. The new ramp was constructed of sheet pile walls, precast concrete ramp structure and cast-in-place concrete caps. Also included was a new floating dock with pile supports to allow mooring of vessels once unloaded. Site improvements included additional asphalt turn areas and parking for trucks and trailers. Utility work included new electrical, site lighting, water service, and cathodic protection.
