Martinez completed a tenant improvement project for the renovation of 2,700 SF of existing space on the 9th Floor of the Matsui US Courthouse and Federal Building. The space was being renovated to accommodate the Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s space and office needs. The project was completed in an occupied building which required coordination of the work and deliveries to minimize impacts to the building users and occupants. GSA security protocols were in-place during the work which required management and site workers to comply with GSA badging and security requirements.
The work in the space included the following scopes:
Architectural – Provided barriers to the surrounding office spaces to minimize dust and noise to the building occupants. Constructed new metal framed walls for the offices. Installed new drywall, insulation, suspended ceilings and flooring throughout the space. Constructed new kitchenette and bathrooms with cabinetry. Installed doors, hardware and bullet-proof transaction window. Painted adjacent hallways and spaces affected by the work.
Electrical – Installed new electrical service for the space from near-by electrical panels. Installed new power, lighting, data, and telecommunications throughout the space. Provided security locks at entry doors.
Mechanical – Installed new HVAC ductwork and systems to serve the space. Ran new main ductwork and installed new units in the space. Provided test and balance of the system when completed.
Plumbing – Ran new plumbing supply from the floor below for new plumbing fixtures. Coordinated work with judges’ chambers below to connect new systems.
Fire Protection – Provided extension of existing fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems into the existing space and modified as existing systems as needed to accommodate new office layout and partitions.
FFE – Provided new system furniture and general office furniture for the entire space. Coordinated finishes and colors with GSA personnel to ensure they match with occupants’ requirements and needs. Oversaw installation of all FFE throughout the space.
